FEATURED ARTIST | Mae Alice Engron
Indiana (1933-2007)
Mae Alice Engron, one of the few African American abstract expressionists of the late 20th century, created a distinct style focused on a unique approach to color and textural elements. Her art includes floral shapes, nudes, and geometric designs. While mainly abstract, she also influenced the neo-Expressionist movement of the 1970’s and 1980’s by merging recognizable forms in unconventional compositions.
